Cut/Toughened Laminate

We produce laminated glass in an array of thicknesses on site in our purpose built laminating facility.

Laminated Glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB) between its two or more layers of glass.

Laminated glass can be the perfect high grade solution for a range of applications such as:

  • Office partitioning
  • Doors
  • Shop fronts
  • Balustrades
  • Full height barriers
  • Overhead glazing and canopies
  • Flooring

Specialist Facility

We produce tempered laminated glass on site, custom made to suit your exact needs from 6.8mm upwards with single and multi-layered laminate options. We can also incorporate mirror into our laminate offerings. Any processing such as notch work, edgework and bevelling can also be specified and carried out on site. Custom order dimensions DXF can be sent via email or sketches by fax.

Glazed Office Interior

We also stock the following types of float laminate:

  • Clear Laminate
  • Bronze Laminate
  • Green Laminate
  • Opal Laminate
  • Low Iron Laminate
  • Acoustic Laminate
  • Hardcoat Laminate

Applications of Laminated Glass

Acoustic – Due to sound damping characteristics of the PVB interlayer(s), laminated glass reduces noise transmission. If higher levels of sound insulation are required, then specialist acoustic laminate is available.

Aesthetic – Various PVB interlayers offer a selection of colours and opacity that are not attainable with other glass products e.g. coatings, silk-screening, spandrel glass etc. This is particularly relevant when it comes to bright colours, and specific opaque or translucent requests.

Impact Resistances – We provide a range of laminated glass options that help alleviate the effects of physical impacts.*

*Note: Laminate Glass is a component of the overall system the glass frame. Therefore the integrity of laminate glass is also dependent upon the frame it is housed in and how it is anchored to a wall structure. Tipperary Glass Ltd. recommends you consult with a professionally accredited body to verify the performance of the glass and framing system combination.
