Glass Drilling Services

We offer glass drilling services.  These start at 5mm diameter and offer the precision accuracy you would expect from Tipperary Glass.

Holes Dimension Guidelines

Minimum Size:  The minimum diameter of the hole must be 5mm, or for thicker glasses the same as the glass thickness. i.e. 8mm in 8mm glass.

Maximum Size: The maximum size of a hole cannot be greater than 1/3 the narrowest dimension of the glass.

All holes that have a straight edge, or are non-circular, must have fillets. A fillet is a rounded corner from which the straight edge emerges. The radius of the fillet must be greater than or equal to the thickness of the glass, but not less than 6mm.

Guideline for Minimum Glass Width with Holes

Glass that contains holes must be at least 4mm in thickness for it to be toughened. In addition, all other requirements relating to hole location, spacing of holes, and the dimensions of holes must also be met.

Guidelines for Hole Spacing

The distance between the edge of the glass and the circumference of the hole must be 2.5 times greater than glass thickness.
The distance between any given hole circumferences must be 2.5 times greater than glass thickness.

Guideline for Holes Placement (Proximity to Corners)

The distance from the nearest edge of a hole to the corner of the glass must be at least 4 times the thickness of the glass when the corner is 90° or more.
